Shin Splints
What is it?
Shin splints result when muscles, tendons, and bone tissue become overworked. Shin splints often occur in athletes who've recently intensified or changed their training routines.
IMPORTANT:
If you have shin pain that does not start to improve after 1 week of following these instructions you NEED to consult with your Athletic Trainer. Other injuries could be the TRUE cause!

How Can I Fix it?
Shin splints do not go away over night. They typically last for WEEKS! So if you're having this pain you're in for a long rehab.

The fastest way to treat shin splints is to:

1. Make sure the shoes you're running/practicing in are not too worn in and in need of replacement.

2. REST. I know it's an athletes nightmare but take some rest from uphill or distance specifically.

3. Ice. After any type of workout or exercise make sure to ice those shins.

4. Do these exercises 1-2 times a day.
